Ethernet Alliance Interoperability Test Events
Overview:
A key function of the Ethernet Alliance is to provide a support body that brings Ethernet vendors together to test the interoperability of various Ethernet standards-based technologies. These events are often referred to as “interoperability test events” or more informally “plugfests”. The test events typically consist of a group of vendors coming together who have equipment built to a particular standard. The results of the test event are used by the Ethernet Alliance and the participating vendors to help indicate to the market when interoperable equipment is ready for market adoption.
Process:
- The call for interest for a plugfest is typically hosted by an Ethernet Alliance subcommittee. This call for interest is made within the Ethernet Alliance as well as advertised externally.
- Interested parties discuss at a high level what types of tests will be conducted, when and where.
- Registration forms, non-disclosure agreements (NDAs), and payments are required by the deadline to be eligible to participate.
- Once deadline has passed, only those who have signed the NDA are allowed to be involved in further development of the test plan, participate in the test event and have access to the vendor-specific test results.
- All results remain confidential within the test group. Post-testing, participants will determine whether to issue documents on the findings of the events or if they wish to keep those results confidential within the participants.
Eligibility:
