The Ethernet Alliance’s third quarter was marked by unprecedented collaboration and exciting announcements. ECOC 2025 played host to one of our most comprehensive multi-vendor interoperability demos yet, with 11 members bringing best-in-class Ethernet technologies and solutions that are redefining the future of connectivity. We also welcomed new board leadership, shared insightful member perspectives through guest blogs, and announced the return of our Technology Exploration Forum, where Ethernet’s future takes center stage.

Interoperability in Focus: Ethernet Alliance at ECOC 2025

At ECOC 2025, Ethernet Alliance showcased its live multivendor demonstration, featuring real-time optical and copper connections supporting 100G to 800G, and Linear Pluggable Optics (LPO). Eleven industry-leading member companies took part, including Alphawave Semi, Amphenol Corporation, Cisco Systems, Inc., Formerica OptoElectronics, Inc., Huawei Corporation, Keysight Technologies Inc., MultiLane, Inc., Synopsys, Inc., TE Connectivity, Teledyne LeCroy Inc., and VeEX, Inc. Additional details can be found in our Ethernet and AI Converge in Ethernet Alliance’s ECOC 2025 Demo press release.

Rethinking Ethernet Infrastructure for Critical Systems

Resilience in Ethernet infrastructure is no longer just a technical luxury; it is a baseline requirement. In his Securing the Optical Layer: Designing Ethernet Infrastructure for Resilience in Critical Systems guest blog, Mark Sherwin Maestro of Formerica Optoelectronics explored how thoughtful design choices can strengthen Ethernet networks in critical environments.

Introducing New Ethernet Alliance Board Member: Lowell Lamb

Ethernet Alliance proudly welcomed Lowell Lamb, Distinguished Engineer in Broadcom’s Core Switching Group, to its board. In his Follow the Leaders Q&A, he shared insights from his career, favorite Ethernet applications, personal reflections, and how he plans to leverage his extensive knowledge and abilities to enhance the Ethernet Alliance.
