Earlier this week the Ethernet Alliance announced the first participants in its Power over Ethernet (PoE) Certification Program, as well as the first 37 products to be certified.  The program participants include Analog Devices, Cisco Systems, Inc, Hewlett Packard Enterprise Co., Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd, Microsemi Corporation, Philips Lighting NV, Sifos Technologies, Inc.; and Texas Instruments.  These companies represent participation from global vendors across the PoE Ecosystem, from switch, device, lighting, and testing vendors.  The first wave of certified devices include various switches, midspans, and evaluation boards.

The presence of the Ethernet Alliance PoE Certification Logo represents a huge step forward for the industry, as users will now have a simple logo to easily and quickly recognize components and equipment based on the IEEE 802.3™ standard for PoE.  It will also help them to recognize which devices will work with each other.
