The first time I met Dave, I was attending the OFC 2015 show in Los Angeles as a member participant and my first time assisting as a technical lead of the interoperability demonstration in the Ethernet Alliance booth.  Intel was participating with a network switch in the demonstration and Dave wanted the details of the demo, and more precisely what was connected to and through the entire interoperability demonstration and not just the Intel switch.  Come to find out later, Dave was readying for a panel presentation about the EA booth.

I recall his passion about the EA and the events we produce, showcasing the newest and best offerings from the myriad of member organizations.  After I became a member of the EA Board, I had the great pleasure of working with Dave on many occasions to further the mission, primarily focused on interoperability.  I believe Dave was our best champion in the pursuit of standards conformance and equipment interoperability testing, leading many of the EA Plugfest events over the past several sessions.

When off the clock, I recall many conversations with Dave around the hotel or venue “watering hole” and greatly enjoyed time spent listening to his unique and thoughtful perspectives.  The EA has lost a great champion, but more importantly, we have lost a wonderful man with a warm heart.  My sincerest condolences to Dave’s family and close friends.

I will miss you Dave!
